Job Summary

The Red Hat Consulting Services team is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Consultant to join us in Farnborough, UK. In this role, you will lead the on-site delivery and implementation of Red Hat technology that delivers freedom, flexibility, and superior performance. You'll gain an understanding of our customers' infrastructure and business issues, and make recommendations appropriate to their environment. This position is ideal for an infrastructure consultant who wants to build on their core base of knowledge and work in a fast-paced environment promoting Red Hat solutions.


Primary job responsibilities

- Be the subject matter expert at the client site, addressing the technical, developmental, or strategic IT needs
- Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, testing, and deployment of open source solutions
- Learn new technologies and apply those concepts to customer needs
- Adapt with changing customer requirements
- Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner


Required skills

- Extensive experience as a consultant, or in a related role
- Experience with UNIX or Linux database administration and tuning
- Advanced knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, bug fix updates, and core builds
- Experience implementing virtualization technologies in an enterprise setting and with enterprise-wide deployments
- Understanding of the open source community
- Ability to communicate value, progress, and metrics of key projects to required stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, project management, and planning skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or ability to get certified within 30 days of hire
- Willingness to travel up to 100%
