Job Description

We are seeking powerful, motivated and agile software engineers to develop and maintain exciting new Open Source Cloud related solutions. Our engineers work closely with upstream projects in a global environment, to create our enterprise grade private Cloud Computing solution based on SUSE Linux and OpenStack and to contribute to the community. We love to learn and to share our knowledge and to give our customers the best experience.

Core responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain projects related to our SUSE Cloud product

  • Review code written internally by other team members, as well as those externally by other open source contributors

  • Represent SUSE in conferences and meetings, work upstream with open source projects such as OpenStack and others that relate to SUSE Cloud

  • Be the internal domain expert on these projects/technologies, such as nova, heat, keystone, cinder and others

Required skills:

  • Excellent experience in software development, specifically on Linux systems

  • Good programming skills in Python

  • Hands on experience with virtualisation technologies in Linux

  • Ability to write high quality code that is backed by tests

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication ability through presentations, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills (emails, IRC) in English

Desired skills:

  • Experience with software development in agile projects/teams

  • Experience and active participation in Open Source communities/projects

  • Experience working with OpenStack

  • Experience with continuous integration

  • Experience working with OpsCode Chef or Puppet

  • Knowledge of HA technologies

  • Prior experience working with distributed teams
