For our SUSE Linux Enterprise product line, we are looking for a Linux kernel storage developer with a focus on distributed, replicated, and networked block storage. Your responsibilities will include further enhancements and maintenance of these modules as well as debugging and defect resolution of reported issues.

You will join a team of software specialists working globally on an Enterprise grade Linux product, and work in a corporate environment as well as collaborate closely in the open source community.

You should be strong on design, coding, debugging, and bug fixing for Open Source system software on Linux. You should be fast learning, analytical thinking, problem solving to get things done, with a focus on quality and reliability.

Must-have requirements:

  • At least five years experience on Linux and Open Source software development.

  • Fluency in C. Other languages (Python, Perl, Shell, autotools, Ruby) are a plus.

  • Good to expert level knowledge in Linux kernel block storage development, especially DRBD, md, Device Mapper, iSCSI, or rbd.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. (e.g., equivalent to or better than CEFR B2 or TOEFL iBT 90.)

Optional requirements:

  • Experience in other programming languages such as shell, python, perl.

  • Experience with other Linux kernel components such as the network stack (TCP/IP) or others.

  • Experience with Linux High-Availability clustering solutions.

  • Experience with system administration in data centers.

  • Knowledge of Open Source software development. Upstream contributions and community involvement are a big plus.

  • Version control systems and code review, eg. git, GitHub, or Mercurial are a plus.

  • Software testing and test automation experience.
